Shadi Ganjavain-Connor has taken on an extraordinary challenge to raise money for The Murray Parish Trust.
She is heading out to Switzerland to climb the iconic Matterhorn with a fundraising goal the size of the mountain itself!
As part of the Shadi v The Matterhorn Challenge, Shadi has been speaking at school assemblies throughout June and will continue in the Autumn term.
The aim of the tour is to talk to children from year R to year 9 and to inspire children to dream big, tackle challenges and work as a team to reach goals whilst using their creativity to fundraise for their new Trauma department.
“My talk commences with a short bit about myself, where I am going, why I am climbing, my training, my objective, my equipment, my fears and where the money raised is going. I finish my talk with a fun interactive Q & A The children are super curious about my equipment so I do take time to unpack my bag and show them everything too.”
What schools have said:
‘The children and staff loved Shadi’s talk, her talk was educational, inspiring and left our children wanting more. We will be raising funds during the start of next term and inviting Shadi back to present her with cheque for the Murray Parish Trust #2millionsteps campaign’
‘Shadi inspired us all to get involved in raising funds for our local hospital whilst adding a huge amount of fun and suspense during her talk, our children will be following her progress via social media channels’
What Shadi says:
Whilst fundraising for Shadi V The Matterhorn for The Murray Parish Trust I realised how important our children are in us hitting our fundraising goals. After all this amazing new hospital is for them and collaboratively we can reach our goals far quicker.
My talks are aimed to inspire children and staff to face their fears, see any challenges as training and work with like-minded people to travel far.
I have been overwhelmed by the love, support and kindness from the schools I have visited and look forward to meeting many more beautiful faces.
As always am totally inspired by the children their kind words of encouragement and incredible fundraising creativity. The Murray Parish Trust and I appreciate the schools support making our dream of a children’s trauma unit at Southampton general hospital a reality.
