We were delighted to be named as chosen charity for Graze Festival last year. The one-day festival takes place annually in Twyford, Hampshire and brings together local food, community and an impressive musical line-up for 12 hours of family entertainment.
Graze Festival 2017 was so much fun for The Murray Parish Trust – we ran a Mad Hatters Tea Party selling tea and cakes to festival goers throughout the day in our Alice in Wonderland themed tea room! On a beautiful summers’ day in August last year, we raised £700 in tea and cake sales and the organisers donated a further £1800 from their charity fund, making a grand total of £2500 to go towards our #2MillionSteps appeal.
“It’s such an honour to be chosen as charity of the year for a festival, these festivals are very important to the local communities, they choose very carefully and put a lot of thought into who they’re going to support so having The Murray Parish Trust as their charity of the year means an awful lot to us. We have been bowled over by their generosity” – Sarah Parish
We would like to say a huge thanks to Nadine Collinson and all the organisers of last years festival for their incredible support during the event as well as throughout the year. Thanks to all the local ‘bakers’ who sent in the most amazing cakes to sell on the day from the local Twyford area as well as Hare Farm who provided all the eggs to bake with. Whittards Tea Winchester who provided all the tea for the event and sent along their wonderful Tea Ladies (& Gent) to help alongside our wonderful volunteers (Sally Shaw, Sue Hoar, Claire Imhofe, Margot Power, Karen White, Gavin & Sue Kirkpatrick) who all dressed up in suitable ‘Mad Hatters’ attire loaned to us by the wonderful people at Hampshire Wardrobe. It’s been a lot of fun fundraising at local festivals for the team at The Murray Parish Trust and we’ll be out and about again this Summer. Keep an eye out on our social media for more events coming up over the coming months.
We don’t always ask our volunteers to dress up but it can happen! If you have some spare time and would like to get involved in fundraising or volunteering for The Murray Parish Trust please do get in touch. You can email us at [email protected] or [email protected] for more info.
