Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a global not-for-profit organisation for young professionals and entrepreneurs between 18 to 40 years old. Through organising events and taking part in projects during their free time, JCI members (or ‘Jaycees’) develop leadership skills, social responsibility and make a positive contribution to their local community.’
We are excited to have been chosen by the ‘Jaycees’ as their Charity of the Year!
“We recognise the importance of young people being active citizens and encourage our members to take time to get involved in the community. Each year JCI Southampton runs a number of community projects and this year we are proud to be supporting The Murray Parish Trust as our charity of the year. It’s great to be supporting such a worthy cause in their campaign to raise money for a new Paediatric Emergency & Trauma Department (A&E) in Southampton.”
JCI Southampton was established in 1959 and is one of the oldest junior chambers in the UK. At the JCI UK National Convention last year Southampton was recognised as the best local organisation in the country for developing young leaders and empower young active citizens to create positive change.
The overwhelming characteristics of Jaycees are their energy, creativity and determination to develop themselves whilst having a lot of fun and making a difference.
JCI Southampton is passionate about putting back into the communities in which we live and work. It can be easy to forget that, even in a thriving city like Southampton, there are many people who need our help.
