Earlier this year the Barker-Mill Foundation teamed up with the Southern Daily Echo to launch an appeal to raise additional funds for The Murray Parish Trust’s #2MillionSteps campaign, helping us reach our goal of raising £2 million in two years.

Through the #MatchMyMoney appeal a call to action was put out to local businesses and organisations across Hampshire to donate £1000 to be generously matched by Barker-Mill up to £40,000 – this goal has been achieved making a total of £80,000 for our campaign!

This is a huge step up for #2MillionSteps which is raising £2 million in partnership with Southampton Hospital Charity to build a brand new dedicated Children’s A&E Trauma Centre for the South of England – taking care of critically ill or injured children across eight counties & the Channel Islands.

With the government match-funding already in place and Barker-Mill matching the £40k donated by local businesses this effectively puts £160,000 towards the 4.8 million life-saving project.

We did it! Thank you so much to all the people that donated to this appeal.

Some representatives from the organisations that pledged to the #MatchMyMoney appeal met with Sarah Parish from The Murray Parish Trust for a photo shoot in the shell at Southampton University Hospital where the new department will be built. Thank you to: Geoff Buss, Jill Buss, Michael Butters, Darren Vann, Nadine Collinson, Alan Edis, Terry Harmer, Steve Gapper, James Rudge, Sarah Grant, Dick Whittington, Ben Bentham and Ian Patrick for coming along.

The Barker-Mill Foundation (BMF) has been supporting local charities, schools, organisations and individuals in Hampshire since 1995, and has donated well in excess of £3 million to assist local organisations in the region to continue the excellent work they do.
BMF is a loyal supporter of The Murray Parish Trust, having previously provided funds for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Southampton University Hospital, a highly specialised unit providing acute paediatric care for critically ill children from across the whole of the South of England.

The Murray Parish Trust can’t thank them enough for their incredible support of our charity.
